Virtua's 10-week plant-based wellness program helps people suffering from, or at risk for, chronic disease to adopt a plant-based diet.
A plant-based lifestyle helps reduce or eliminate the need for medications, prevent diabetes, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, and helps people shed unwanted pounds.
Pre-assessment occurs during the first 2 weeks of the 10-week session. You will complete a health history form and speak with a Virtua fitness specialist. From there, the fitness specialist assess your current physical condition and creates a personalized fitness plan. Additional physician clearance may be requested at this point.
You participate in 8 weekly nutrition sessions led by a Virtua registered dietitian and Virtua cardiologist that include food tastings, cooking demonstrations and support as you work towards your plant-based lifestyle. Starting in week 3, you will participate in 8 weekly 45-minute fitness sessions led by a Virtua fitness specialist. During these 8 weeks, you also have access to Virtua's fitness center to work out whenever you choose.
You attend a fitness post-assessment and nutrition wrap-up class to highlight your success and discuss next steps in your plant-based lifestyle.
