Closure FAQs

Why is Lourdes Wellness Services closing?

Given the competitive nature of the health care industry, made ever-more complex by the COVID-19 pandemic, Virtua is no longer offer able to offer these services. The financial burden and societal impact of COVID-19 has made us re-focus Virtua’s community health initiatives. Our strategic priority is centered on Food Access and, as a result, we must consider the utilization of our resources to most effectively make an impact.

What services are impacted by the closure?

All services (except chair massage) are not re-opening. This includes therapeutic massage, acupuncture, spiritual direction, exercise classes, and private yoga sessions. Yoga and fitness classes offered through community partners, such as the Cherry Hill Health & Racquet Club and Collingswood Community Center, will also cease operations. The Bridge (youth empowerment program) is not impacted by these changes. Plans for The Canticle of the Creatures Meditation Garden are undecided at this time.

Alternatively, you may call our Access Center at 888-847-8823 and request that someone from that team contact you directly. Please note that we will honor requests until December 31, 2020.

What if I have purchased classes, and have not used them?

We will provide a refund for any classes you may have purchased and that had been placed on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please email wellness@virtua.org with your name, address, and class name. If you prefer, you may call our Access Center at 888-847-8823  and request that someone from that team contact you directly.

Is the Institute of Wholistic Studies closing?

No. The Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies (link to site) remains open and is accepting new students. Through the Institute we will continue to train future therapists to service in our community.

  • Activate circulation
  • Calm or stimulate weak or damaged nerves
  • Restore tone and flexibility
  • Relax strictures
  • Improve bodily alignment and posture

Conditions commonly addressed through corrective muscle therapy include:

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction as a form of therapy is aimed at helping you acknowledge, share, illuminate, and marvel at your journey in life. This isn't a substitute for psychological counseling, although at times both address similar areas of growth and challenge.

Spiritual direction can help you with the following:

  • Experience and rejoice in God’s active, inclusive love
  • Receive support when one feels distant from God
  • Broaden one’s images of God
  • Receive help in ways to pray
  • Receive support and guidance as one grows
  • Learn to discern choices in the light of faith
  • Seek God’s guidance during transitions and changes
  • Grow in harmony with God, self and others.
  • Live from one’s relationship with God in one’s family, community and world

Individual sessions with a trained spiritual director help focus on and explore the spiritual movements of a person’s everyday life experiences.

Individual spiritual direction with art-journaling also is available.

Call 856-869-8190 to schedule your appointment.
