Blueberries: the Super Versatile Superfood

Blueberries may be tiny, but they're a powerhouse superfood. Add more to your diet – and even to your dinner - with these easy recipes.

Why Blueberries Are a Superfood

  • They’re fat-free, high in fiber, and only weigh in at about 80 calories a cup, so if you like a snack you can eat a lot of, blueberries are great.
  • Blueberries have a high level of phytonutrients, called polyphenols. These have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the effects of chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease. These phytonutrients also ease menopause symptoms, reduce short-term memory loss and increase good cholesterol.
  • Blueberries are packed with vitamin C, an immunity booster, and manganese, which helps build bone, and convert proteins, carbs and fats into energy.
