Undergraduate Medical Education
Our training provides unique clinical experiences that mix rigor, collaboration, and compassionate care.

Virtua Health’s Office of Undergraduate Medical Education is committed to supporting our students in the advancement of their education by providing meaningful clinical experiences. We are fully committed to excellence and leadership in education while keeping service to our community at the forefront of everything we do.
About Undergraduate Medical Education at Virtua Health
Virtua Health consists of 5 hospitals and hundreds of outpatient offices that serve as the living and breathing “books” for our students. Each hospital offers a unique patient population and perspective. Intermixed with these are our residency programs where students get to work and learn alongside residents, nurses and other allied health professionals. Learning at Virtua gives the best of both worlds – the feeling of a community hospital which feels like family but also a large academic health system with topnotch clinicians, research opportunities and access to higher level of care.
The clinical experience is intended to assist in the transition from the role of a student to that of a practitioner. We offer experiences varying from rigorous third- and fourth-year medical school clinical rotations to robust clinical training for physician assistant, podiatry, midwifery, pharmacy and pharmacy technician students.
Virtua serves as the largest clinical hub-site for Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine students. We also host students from local schools such as Drexel University College of Medicine, Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, St. Joseph’s University and students from as far as Chicago.
