Virtua Voorhees Hospital received the 2015 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Satisfaction – a health care symbol of achievement based on patient surveys. It places Voorhees in the top five percent of all hospitals nationwide. Recognized as a leader in performance improvement, Press Ganey Inc. partners with more than 10,000 health care organizations worldwide to create and sustain high-performing organizations, and, ultimately, improve the overall health care experience.
Consumer Choice Award
Virtua Voorhees received the 2016/2017 Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation in its annual survey of consumers. Consumer Choice winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in National Research’s Market Insights survey, which is the largest online consumer healthcare survey in the U.S.
Virtua Voorhees earned a 2017/2018 Consumer Loyalty Award from NRC Health, the leading provider of in-depth customer intelligence in healthcare. The award recognizes hospitals across the country that garner extraordinary loyalty from their patients. Virtua Voorhees is one of three hospitals from New Jersey to receive the inaugural award and is the only one to represent South Jersey.
U.S. News & World Report Rankings
Virtua Voorhees achieved "Best Regional Hospital" in the U.S. News & World Report 2018/2019 rankings and evaluations. Virtua Voorhees and Virtua Memorial achieved high performing status from the national publication. Voorhees scored "high performing" for five conditions and diseases: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart failure, hip replacement and knee replacement. Virtua Marlton was included when evaluating the performance of Virtua Voorhees. Virtua Memorial also scored “high performing” for heart failure.
The intensive care unit (ICU) at Virtua Voorhees received a 2018 Beacon Award for Excellence (Gold) by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. The three-year designation recognizes quality through metrics that demonstrate exceptional care and collaboration. The ICU at Virtua Marlton and Memorial also received Beacon Awards for Excellence. In addition, the Special Care Nursery and Progressive Care Unit at Virtua Memorial each received a 2018 Beacon Award for Excellence (Silver).
Virtua was granted a 2015 High Performing Hospital Award for quality and efficient care by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the state’s largest health insurer, in recognition of the health system’s consistent run of A grades in Leapfrog Hospital Safety Scores.
Virtua Voorhees and Virtua Marlton received a 2018 Academy of MedSurg Nursing's Premier Recognition In the Specialty of Med-Surg (PRISM) Award®. The award acknowledges the professional Registered Nurse as well as the entire patient care team who practice in a supportive environment in order to achieve and sustain outstanding patient and staff satisfaction outcomes.
Atrial Fibrillation Care
Virtua Memorial Hospital received the 2017 Get With The Guidelines® AFIB Bronze Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology/Heart Rhythm Society guidelines for the management of patients with atrial fibrillation.
Virtua Marlton and Virtua Memorial have been recognized as 2018 Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence by the Metabolic and Bariatric Accreditation Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The accreditation recognizes surgical programs that have demonstrated a track record of favorable outcomes, a commitment of resources, and clinical expertise to care for the bariatric (weight-loss) surgical patient. A Bariatric Surgery Center receives accreditation following a rigorous review process to ensure standards of practice.
Virtua's Breast Program has been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. To earn this accreditation, a breast program must demonstrate a firm commitment to offering its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease.
Virtua's Oncology Program is fully accredited with commendation designation by the Commission on Cancer, a program administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). The Penn Medicine Virtua Cancer Program received a 2017 Innovator Award from the Association of Community Cancer Centers.
Virtua received an American Heart Association 2016 New Jersey American Heartsaver Award for taking extraordinary steps to strengthen the chain of survival in its communities through the launch of an innovative CPR mobile app to help save lives within Burlington County. As of 2018, all three of Virtua’s cardiac rehabilitation locations earned peer-reviewed accreditation from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Virtua's Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Services received a 2018 Education Recognition Certificate for a quality Diabetes Self-Management education program from the American Diabetes Association. The ADA acknowledges that Virtua's program offers high-quality diabetes self-management education which is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment. Education Recognition status is verified by an official certificate from the ADA and is awarded for three years.
Emergency Medical Services
Virtua received the 2016 American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Award for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experience severe heart attacks.
Virtua Home Care received a 2018 NJHA Excellence in Quality Improvement Award for interventions to reduce catheter-associated tract infections in home care. The award recognizes healthcare organizations that are working to improve performance and enhance quality, patient safety and satisfaction with care.
Virtua Joint Replacement Institute was recognized with a 2017 Aetna Institutes of Quality (IOQ) designation, which is given to facilities that provide excellent orthopaedic services and meet certain standards for clinical quality, cost efficiency, and network access for specific orthopaedic surgery programs in the IOQ network.
Designated a Regional Perinatal Center by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Virtua provides a full range of maternity services and testing for low- and high-risk pregnant women and advanced care for high-risk newborns.
Vir tú spas received "2018 Best of" honors from readers of the following publications: "Best of South Jersey" - Courier-Post, "Best Spas for Moms" - Philadelphia Magazine and "Best Facial" - South Jersey Magazine.
Virtua Memorial Hospital was designated a 2018 Aetna Institute of Quality (IOQ) for its spine surgery program. Designated IOQ facilities demonstrate excellence in care, a commitment to continuous improvement and represent an exceptional value to its members. The goal of Aetna’s IOQ is to assist members in choosing facilities that provide consistently high-quality and high-value care.
Virtua Memorial Hospital was also designated a Blue Distinction® Center for Spine Surgery by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Blue Distinction® is a nationwide program of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) that recognizes facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering high quality healthcare and improved outcomes for patients. In addition, Virtua Memorial has also met the BCBSA’s specific set of rigorous standards to be designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Specialty Care in Knee and Hip Replacement.
All three Virtua hospitals are designated Primary Stroke Centers by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
Virtua Express Urgent Care has received the Certified Urgent Care designation which distinguishes it for excellence in urgent care services. Virtua Express treats a large scope of medical conditions and has met all of the Urgent Care Association of America’s established criteria. With its certification, Virtua Express Urgent Care and the Urgent Care Association of America demonstrate their commitment toward providing patients with access to appropriate levels of care.
Virtua Express Urgent Care was also named "Best Walk-In Urgent Care" in 2018 by the Burlington County Times.
Joint Commission Accreditation
The Joint Commission, which is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits healthcare organizations and programs, has accredited all Virtua hospital services as well as Virtua’s home care agencies, long-term care organizations and laboratories.
The Joint Commission’s hospital standards address important functions relating to the care of patients and the management of hospitals. The Joint Commission develops its standards in consultation with health care experts, providers and researchers, as well as measurement experts, purchasers and consumers. To earn and maintain accreditation, a hospital must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team.
The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 20,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including more than 10,600 hospitals and home care organizations, and more than 6,600 other health care organizations.
All of Virtua's clinical services including hospitals, long-term care and rehabilitation centers, ambulatory sites and outpatient services are licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services has also licensed the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Virtua Marlton as a full-service diagnostic catheterization laboratory. And the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Virtua Memorial is licensed as a low-risk cardiac catheterization diagnostic facility by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
