Virtua Voorhees received the 2016/2017 Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation in its annual survey of consumers. Consumer Choice winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in National Research’s Market Insights survey, which is the largest online consumer healthcare survey in the U.S.
Consumer Loyalty
Virtua Voorhees earned the 2018, 2019, and 2020 Consumer Loyalty Award from NRC Health, the leading provider of in-depth customer intelligence in healthcare. The award recognizes hospitals across the country that garner extraordinary loyalty from their patients. Virtua Voorhees was one of three hospitals from New Jersey to receive the inaugural award and was the only one to represent South Jersey.
U.S. News & World Report Rankings
Virtua Voorhees and Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes hospitals are among the best performing hospitals in New Jersey and the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area in the latest U.S News and World Report 2021-2022 rankings. Both hospitals - as well as Virtua Mount Holly - are recognized as top performers in the treatment of specific medical conditions, including COPD, diabetes, heart failure, and kidney disease.
Nursing Excellence
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) honored Virtua nurses with the prestigious Magnet recognition for their dedication, compassionate care and quality outcomes. Magnet status is an conferred by the ANCC, an affiliate of the American Nurses Association, to healthcare organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. Magnet status is the highest national honor for the professional nursing practice.
Critical Care
Seven units within Virtua’s hospitals have earned the Beacon Award for Excellence by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, including a Gold for the special care nursery at Virtua Mount Holly Hospital. The three-year designation recognizes quality through metrics that demonstrate exceptional care and collaboration.
Medical-Surgical Care
Virtua Voorhees 6AB Unit is the most recent Virtua medical-surgical team to receive the Academy of MedSurg Nursing's Premier Recognition In the Specialty of Med-Surg (PRISM) Award®. Past recipients include Virtua Vorhees 4A and 7A, as well as the 3-North unit at Virtua Marlton. The award acknowledges the professional Registered Nurse as well as the entire patient care team who practice in a supportive environment in order to achieve and sustain outstanding patient and staff satisfaction outcomes.
Stroke & Atrial Fibrillation Care
In 2019, the American Heart Association/American Stroke bestowed its 2019 Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Quality Achievement Award to two Virtua hospitals: Virtua Mount Holly and Virtua Our Lady of Loudes. Previously, Virtua Mount Holly received the 2017 Get With The Guidelines® AFIB Bronze Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures for the management of patients with atrial fibrillation.
Safety and Security
Virtua Security received the 2019 Program of Distinction award from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety. Virtua’s safety and security program joins an elite group of healthcare security programs across the world that have achieved this prestigious recognition for achieving and maintaining a high level of trained and certified security officers, supervisors and leaders.
Ambulatory Surgery Centers
A dozen of Virtua’s joint-venture ambulatory surgery centers earned a spot on Newsweek’s annual list of best ASCs in the state and the country.
Bariatric Surgery
Virtua Mount Holly has been awarded a Blue Distinction® Center+, and Virtua Marlton has been awarded a Blue Distinction® Center for Bariatric Surgery by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Blue Distinction Centers for Bariatric Surgery provide a full range of bariatric surgery care including surgical care, post-operative care, outpatient follow-up care, and patient education. Virtua Marlton and Virtua Mount Holly have been recognized as 2018 Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence by the Metabolic and Bariatric Accreditation Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The accreditation recognizes surgical programs that have demonstrated a track record of favorable outcomes, a commitment of resources, and clinical expertise to care for the bariatric (weight-loss) surgical patient. A Bariatric Surgery Center receives accreditation following a rigorous review process to ensure standards of practice.
Breast Program
Virtua's Breast Program has been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. To earn this accreditation, a breast program must demonstrate a firm commitment to offering its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease.
Cancer Care
Virtua's Oncology Program is fully accredited with commendation designation by the Commission on Cancer, a program administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). The Penn Medicine Virtua Cancer Program received a 2017 Innovator Award from the Association of Community Cancer Centers.
Cardiac Care
Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is among Watson Health’s list of 2020 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals, which identifies hospitals with the highest performance in hospital cardiovascular services. In 2019, HealthGrades recognized Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital as a Five-Star Recipient for the Treatment of Heart Failure, and Virtua Willingboro Hospital was recognized as a Five-Star Recipient for the Treatment of Heart Attacks. As of 2018, Virtua’s cardiac rehabilitation locations earned peer-reviewed accreditation from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Diabetes Care
In 2019, HealthGrades recognized Virtua Willingboro Hospital as a Five-Star Recipient for the Treatment of Diabetic Emergencies. Virtua's Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Services received a 2018 Education Recognition Certificate for a quality Diabetes Self-Management education program from the American Diabetes Association. The ADA acknowledges that Virtua's program offers high-quality diabetes self-management education which is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment. Education Recognition status is verified by an official certificate from the ADA and is awarded for three years.
Gynecologic Surgery
Virtua Voorhees Hospital has received an accreditation by the Surgical Review Corporation as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology, recognizing the exceptional minimally invasive gynecologic surgical care and dedication to continuously improving healthcare quality and patient safety.
Home Care
Virtua Home Care received a 2018 NJHA Excellence in Quality Improvement Award for interventions to reduce catheter-associated tract infections in home care. The award recognizes healthcare organizations that are working to improve performance and enhance quality, patient safety and satisfaction with care.
Joint Replacement
Virtua Joint Replacement Institute was recognized with a 2017 Aetna Institutes of Quality (IOQ) designation, which is given to facilities that provide excellent orthopaedic services and meet certain standards for clinical quality, cost efficiency, and network access for specific orthopaedic surgery programs in the IOQ network.
Maternity Care
Virtua Mount Holly and Virtua Voorhees Hospitals have been awarded the Blue Distinction® Center for Maternity Care by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). The Blue Distinction® Specialty Care Program is a national designation program recognizing healthcare facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering specialty care safely, effectively and cost-efficiently.
Perinatal Care
Designated a Regional Perinatal Center by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Virtua provides a full range of maternity services and testing for low- and high-risk pregnant women and advanced care for high-risk newborns.
Spine Surgery
Virtua Mount Holly Hospital was designated a 2018 Aetna Institute of Quality (IOQ) for its spine surgery program. Designated IOQ facilities demonstrate excellence in care, a commitment to continuous improvement and represent an exceptional value to its members. The goal of Aetna’s IOQ is to assist members in choosing facilities that provide consistently high-quality and high-value care.
Virtua Mount Holly Hospital was also designated a Blue Distinction® Center for Spine Surgery by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Blue Distinction® is a nationwide program of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) that recognizes facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering high quality healthcare and improved outcomes for patients. In addition, Virtua Mount Holly has also met the BCBSA’s specific set of rigorous standards to be designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Specialty Care in Knee and Hip Replacement.
Stroke Care
Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center by the New Jersey Department of Health. Virtua Marlton, Virtua Mount Holly, Virtua Voorhees, and Virtua Willingboro hospitals are designated Primary Stroke Centers by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. In 2019, HealthGrades recognized Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital as a Five-Star Recipient for the Treatment of Stroke.
Urgent Care
Virtua Urgent Care has received the Certified Urgent Care designation which distinguishes it for excellence in urgent care services. Virtua Urgent Care treats a large scope of medical conditions and has met all of the Urgent Care Association of America’s established criteria. With its certification, Virtua Urgent Care and the Urgent Care Association of America demonstrate their commitment toward providing patients with access to appropriate levels of care.
Virtua Express Urgent Care was also named "Best Walk-In Urgent Care" in 2018 by the Burlington County Times.
Joint Commission Accreditation
The Joint Commission, which is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits healthcare organizations and programs, has accredited all Virtua hospital services as well as Virtua’s home care agencies, long-term care organizations and laboratories.
The Joint Commission’s hospital standards address important functions relating to the care of patients and the management of hospitals. The Joint Commission develops its standards in consultation with health care experts, providers and researchers, as well as measurement experts, purchasers and consumers. To earn and maintain accreditation, a hospital must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team.
The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 20,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including more than 10,600 hospitals and home care organizations, and more than 6,600 other health care organizations.
Licensures
All of Virtua's clinical services including hospitals, long-term care and rehabilitation centers, ambulatory sites and outpatient services are licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services has also licensed the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Virtua Marlton as a full-service diagnostic catheterization laboratory. And the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Virtua Mount Holly is licensed as a low-risk cardiac catheterization diagnostic facility by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
