Virtua Health Earns National Recognition as Top Employer

June 04, 2025 - The health systems recently earned spots on three "best workplaces" lists

Virtua Health has earned national acclaim as an exceptional employer, landing a spot on three prominent “best workplaces” lists: two from Newsweek and one from Modern Healthcare. These distinctions highlight Virtua’s commitment to fostering a purpose-driven, inclusive, and supportive work environment for its more than 15,000 colleagues.

The not-for-profit health system, southern New Jersey’s largest, operates five hospitals and more than 400 other care locations.

For the first time, Virtua is featured on Newsweek’s 2025 list of America’s Greatest Workplaces, as well as the publication’s inaugural list of America’s Greatest Workplaces in Health Care. The rankings, developed in partnership with Plant-A Insights Group, are based on survey data from more than 250,000 U.S. workers across 78 sectors. The evaluation included factors such as company culture, compensation and benefits, work-life balance, and career growth.

These Newsweek honors arrive alongside Virtua’s inclusion on Modern Healthcare’s 2025 list of Best Places to Work in Healthcare. Virtua is the only health system in New Jersey to be featured this year. This long-standing recognition is based primarily on confidential employee surveys conducted by Workforce Research Group, emphasizing employee well-being, engagement, and workplace culture.

“We are proud to cultivate an environment where people feel genuinely valued, supported, and connected to a purpose greater than themselves,” said Rhonda Jordan, SHRM-SCP, executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Virtua Health. “These honors affirm that our people feel inspired to do their best work for each other and our community.”

“This recognition from Newsweek and Modern Healthcare reflects the passion, skill, and dedication of our colleagues,” said Dennis W. Pullin, FACHE, president and CEO of Virtua Health. “It also speaks to our collective promise to be Here for Good for our team and for the communities we serve.”

Earlier this year, Newsweek named Virtua among the Best Places to Work for Women. In August 2024, Forbes named Virtua Health among the best employers in New Jersey for the sixth consecutive year.
