A Personal Health Record
Keeping track of your medical records can be a challenge. Yet, seeing the big picture in one place can make a real difference in the quality of your care. MyChart’s personal health record (PHR) gives you a summary of medications, procedures, allergies, lab results, discharge instructions and much more.
The 21st Century Cures Act, a new national initiative, gives patients access to their electronic health records. Virtua has embraced this movement, electing to go live with new enhancements to MyChart in advance of the Act’s national rollout. Now Virtua patients have greater, and quicker, access to their results and physician notes. When there is a new note or result in your MyChart record, you will receive an alert. This could mean there are times you will receive results before your clinician sees it. However, be aware that your provider will be notified of any critical test results immediately.
A Communication Network
With MyChart, you can communicate with your health care provider by sending a secure message with non-urgent questions, such as:
- “Are flu shots available?” or “I will be traveling overseas, what vaccines do I need?”
- “Will my insurance cover an upcoming physical?”
- Request a referral
- Insurance eligibility
- Compliments and complaints
- Appointment requests
