Christina Lost Weight and Gained an Active Life with Her Kids
Christina is a stay-at-home mom with two young children. She’s been overweight since college. And, like many women, she gained additional weight after each pregnancy. Over the years, she struggled to lose weight and keep it off.
With a very busy schedule, Christina says it’s hard to find time to eat right and exercise. But, her two children are her main motivation to lose weight—she wants to be there for them as an active, engaged mom. She also wants to set a good example for them and teach them how to be healthy and love themselves.
Christina’s primary care physician recommended Virtua’s weight-loss program. She met with Virtua registered dietitian Dafna Chazin, RDN, and together they developed a plan that fit her health needs and her weight-loss goals.
She joined the program in March 2016 and, since then, has lost more than 85 pounds. She feels more active and energetic. And now, rather than picking foods that drain her energy, she chooses healthy food options that give her energy. “This program is very different,” says Christina. “It looks at the emotional side of weight loss and weight gain and provides long-term support.”
Christina has retrained her brain to think about food differently. She is very active, enjoying kickboxing and fight training.
“Virtua’s weight-loss program changed my life,” says Christina. With a smile on her face, she notes “it feels good to be strong.” Now, Christina is training for a half marathon—something she would never have been able to do before.
